To practice as an Agrologist in Manitoba, you must be registered with Manitoba Institute of Agrologists. There are two levels of registration for practicing members:
Level 1a
Title: Agrologists-in-Training (*AIT)
Timeline: You must first be registered as an AIT
Details: AIT registration allows you to legally work as an Agrologist in Manitoba.
Level 1b
Title: Senior Level Experienced Applicants
Timeline: See process overview
Details: Accepted registered senior level applicants are legally allowed to work as Agrologists in Manitoba
Level 2
Title: Full Status Agrologist: Professional Agrologist (P.Ag.) or Technical Agrologist (Tech.Ag.)
Timeline: Once registered as an AIT, you may complete the requirements for registration as a P.Ag. or Tech.Ag.
Details: Full status registration can lead to better jobs and higher salaries.
*AIT is used on this website as an abbreviation for Agrologist-in-Training. It is not an official title/designation.
Step 1a: AIT Application
Complete the Agrologist-in-Training (AIT) Application for Registration. This includes:
- Online Application + Answer Self-Disclosure Questions
- Fee payment
- Education verification [original transcript(s) from University/College if degree(s) taken is in Canada or a course-by-course evaluation from World Education Services if degree(s) taken are from Universities/Colleges outside of Canada]
Step 1b: Senior Level, Experienced Application
- Online Application + Answer Self-Disclosure Questions
- Fee payment
- Education verification [original transcript(s) from University/College if degree(s) taken is in Canada or a course-by-course evaluation from World Education Services if degree(s) taken are from Universities/Colleges outside of Canada]

Step 2: Review
The Institute will conduct a preliminary review of your application
Step 3: Assessment
The Admission and Registration Committee will fully assess your application and make a decision.
Step 4: Decision
The Admission and Registration Committee approves your application, you will be registered as an Agrologist-in-Training (AIT). The Institute will send you a letter informing you of your status as an AIT.
Step 5: Pursue Full Status
Once you are registered as an AIT, you must complete other requirements to become registered as a Professional Agrologist (P.Ag.) or Technical Agrologist (Tech.Ag.).
