NON-RESIDENT APPLICATION – from outside of Canada
Non-resident applicants are those who apply for registration and are not living in Canada.
Agrologists Manitoba may perform an initial academic assessment for non-resident applicants and then hold the application until they arrive in Manitoba and can fulfill remaining registration requirements.
This service is aimed at streamlining the application process. It offers non-resident applicants the opportunity to gather and submit academic credentials for World Education Services Course-by-Course assessment prior to arrival in Manitoba.
Since the assessment process occurs on a quarterly schedule, applicants may use this opportunity initiate the WES course-by-course evaluation only.
Outside of Canada
STEP 1: INITIATE APPLICATION
Timeline: WES Evaluation is often the most time-consuming part of the application process – initiating the WES (and accessing academic records) early can streamline your application. Step 2 and 3 can occur upon arrival in Canada.
1. Online Application – Fill online form

Regulators who must limit assessments of non-resident applicants prioritize assessments of:
- Applicants who have been accepted by the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program;
- Applicants who have been issued Canadian immigration visa; and,
- Applicants who have been given a letter of interest from a Manitoba employer.
2. Education Documents
- University/College outside of Canada – Apply for course-by-course evaluation from World Education Services (include Agrologists Manitoba as recipient).
Outside of Canada OR Upon Arrival in Canada
STEP 2: ASSESSMENT
Timeline: Occurs quarterly [Feb/May/Aug/Nov]
3. Application Fee ($125)
Application fee will be available for online payment once application is reviewed.
4. Letter of Eligibility
Education Credential assessor Academic Credentials compared to the Education Standard.
Agrologists Manitoba informs applicant if their academic credentials:
a) Meet the education standard [application will be held pending arrival in Manitoba]
*Upon arrival in Manitoba, applicant will be placed in Competency Development Program
b) Do not meet the education standard [application file will be closed]
In Manitoba
STEP 3: DECISION
Timeline: Decision sent within 1 week of ARC meeting
Timeline: Self-Directed Competency Development Program ~1-3 years
Applicants that:
- Meet the education standard
- No demonstrated transfer of formal agrology knowledge to a Canadian context
Directed to participate in the Competency Development Program. Upon completion of Competency Development Program – ARC will re-assess application.
Competency Development Program complete – application will be approved for registration as an Agrologist-in-Training (AIT).
