STEPS TO REGISTRATION / DOCUMENT CHECKLIST – PDF

RESIDENT APPLICATION – from within Canada

STEP 1: APPLICATION

Timeline – dependent on course-by-course evaluation from WES

1. Online Application – Fill online form 
[self-disclosure, education, and Canadian agrology-related employment]

2. Application Fee ($125)
Fee will be available once application is reviewed, pay online > Dashboard

3. Education Documents

• University/College outside of Canada – apply for course-by-course evaluation from World Education Services (include Agrologists Manitoba as recipient).
• University/College inside of Canada – submit original transcript (mailed university parchment or electronic sent directly from university to AgMB)

Note: If official academic documents are not accessible, request that WES notify Agrologists Manitoba why records cannot be obtained.

4. Canadian Agrology Practice Information

• Employed in Canadian agrology-related role – Send a current job description to admin@agrologistsmanitoba.ca
• Planning to be employed in Canadian agrology-related role – Send a description of intended agrology practice to admin@agrologistsmanitoba.ca

STEP 2: ASSESSMENT

Timeline: Occurs quarterly [Feb/May/Aug/Nov]
Decision sent within 1 week of ARC meeting

The Admission and Registration Committee (ARC) will fully assess your completed application and make a decision [completed application must be received 30 days prior to upcoming meeting].
ARC meetings – February, May, August, November

STEP 3: DECISION

Timeline: Self-Directed Competency Development Program ~1-3 years

Applicants that:

• Meet the education standard
• No demonstrated transfer of formal agrology knowledge to a Canadian context

Competency Development Program complete – application will be approved for registration as an Agrologist-in-Training (AIT).

Applicants that:

• Meet the education standard
• Demonstrated transfer of formal agrology knowledge to a Canadian context

Approved for registration as an Agrologist-in-Training (AIT)

STEP 4: PURSUE FULL STATUS – Agrologist-In-Training

Timeline: ~9 months – with a maximum of 2 years

Complete the Agrologist-In-Training requirements to become registered as a Professional Agrologist (P.Ag.) or Technical Agrologist (Tech.Ag.).

STEP 5: FINAL ARC REVIEW

Timeline: Decision sent within 1 week of ARC meeting

ARC:
-reviews your completed AIT requirements
-approves your full status registration
-sends you a letter informing you of your Full Status designation

STEP 6: REGISTRATION AS AN AGROLOGY PROFESSIONAL (P.Ag./Tech.Ag.)

Timeline: Ongoing

1. Submit annual permit fee.
2. Complete and record annual Learning Goals/Learning Activities to ensure competency in your field of practice.

APPEALS

Agrologists Manitoba’s registration decision is based on information available from your initial application. If you wish to appeal the decision, or if you believe Agrologists Manitoba has misinterpreted your qualifications, please submit the following in writing:

• Your name/address
• The decision/date of decision letter
• A statement indicating that you wish to appeal the decision
• New information or additional clarification to demonstrate that you meet the requirements for registration with Agrologists Manitoba

Agrologists Manitoba will reconsider the decision if you submit new information or additional clarification, and this may result in a different decision. Agrologists Manitoba will inform you of the final decision in writing.

If Agrologists Manitoba maintains its original decision, it is your right to seek additional guidance from a lawyer.

Appeal Timeline / Cost

There is no deadline or additional fee to appeal a registration decision.
