Provincial Council Profile

LeeAnn Peters, B.Sc. (Ag), P.Ag.

LeeAnn is a graduate of the University of Manitoba with a Bsc. Agriculture specializing in Animal Science. (1998). Throughout her education, she was employed by the University supporting ongoing Applied Ethology research trials managed by both professors and master’s students. These trials focused particularly on the impact of transport stress and environmental enrichment options. 

For the last 25 years, LeeAnn has been actively involved in the swine sector in Manitoba. She has held various roles over the course of her career including: Hog Barn Management, Formulation & Nutrition, Continuous Improvement and Technical Services. She is a certified Level 1 and Level 2 Black Belt with considerable business and change management experience across both hog production and feed manufacturing. It was through this work that she developed a passion for statistics and modelling in live animals.

In her current role as Director of Technical Services for Maple Leaf Agri-Farms, LeeAnn has accountability and oversight of animal health and welfare, feed formulation and nutrition, agri-environmental processes, quality assurance and control, gestation crate free barn conversions and tech and innovation across the business. Maple Leaf Agri-Farms operates 205 production sites and raises 1.8 million market hogs annually for Maple Leaf Food’s Brandon Plant. 

In her spare time, LeeAnn spends time volunteering and supporting her children’s interests in dance and gymnastics, doing puzzles and fishing.
